03 May Dewey Business Partnership 6th Annual Arts Festival
On Saturday, May 13th, The Dewey Business Partnership presents their 6th annual Arts Festival at Dagsworthy Street Bayside in Dewey Beach. Over 50 artists will be coming out to sell their artwork, and this year the festival is working with The Dewey Artist Collaboration, a local organization that brings Southern Delaware’s art community together in order to help enrich life and inspire an art movement.
The Dewey Beach Art Festival has become a spring staple of the community. Each year the festival grows a little bit bigger, and organizer Kelly Ranieri says this year is no exception. “We’ve brought in the Dewey Artist Collaboration, which is new, and they will have a large tent set up with demonstrations. Also new this year is the beer garden, where people can try new local craft beers.”
As Dewey continues to grow, partnering businesses hope hosting events like the Arts Festival will provide good, old-fashioned family fun and give back to the community. Dewey has amazing nightlife, which it has long been famous for, and now events for kids and families help expand its season for a more year-round community. Steve “Monty” Montgomery, owner of The Starboard Restaurant, and member of the Dewey Business Partnership, encourages locals to come out and support the event. “We have so much talent here locally, and we’re an exceptional community. Come on out— you may discover something new, and it’s a terrific chance to support local artistry.”
With the bountiful art available for purchase, there is no better and more community-oriented place to shop for Mother’s Day! As with many of their events, the Lion’s Club is front and center, with a variety of children’s activities including the Lion’s Club tent featuring artwork from Rehoboth Elementary students. From face painting to moon bounces, crafts, activities and games, and the Salisbury Zoo and Delaware State Police running interactive set ups, there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
The day will feature live music by Mark Luckenbill, food trucks, interactive demonstrations, and of course, over 50 artists all set against the backdrop of one of the beach’s best small towns. The 6th Annual Dewey Beach Arts Fest is Saturday, May 13th from 9:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. (rain date, Sunday May 14th.) There is FREE parking and this is a FREE event. Dagsworthy street, where the festival takes place will be restricted to traffic and parking beginning at 6P.M. on May 12th.
